Ketaki Mategaonkar Biography

Ketaki Mategaonkar is an exceptionally gifted and multi-talented Indian artist. She has been uniquely blessed with immense talent as a singer, composer and actor. Born in a musical family with a legacy in Marathi music, film & theatre; singing and acting comes naturally to her.

Be it portraying onscreen characters like the bubbly college girl “Prajakta” in the Marathi blockbuster “Time Pass” or a naive school girl “Shirodkar” in her debut film “Shala” or as “Uma” the newly wedded young girl of “Kaksparsh”; Ketaki been lauded time and again for her brilliant performances and widely appreciated by the classes and masses alike!

Expanding her horizons as a singer and actor, at the young age of 23, Ketaki has already reached halfway in achieving her ultimate goal that is to don the mantle of an accomplished actress and a renowned singer. Music encompasses her very soul; she is very passionate about her singing and is always trying to improve herself as a singer par excellence!

Grooming

To achieve this raw perfection in singing Ketaki has put in serious efforts. Ketaki owes it to her parents in a big way for her childhood musical training. Ketaki’s beautiful voice has the right blend of the richness of Hindustani classical music as well as the lightness of carnatic melody. Ketaki’s seemingly flawless musical renditions have been wonderfully nurtured by her mother – Suvarna and father – Parag from the tender age of three. Currently Ketaki is training in classical music under the guidance of Smt. Devaki Pandit.

Acting Career

Ketaki rose to fame through some of the most successful and critically acclaimed Marathi movies that have been showcased in recent times.

Shala – A National Award winning Marathi film by Sujay Dahake - Ketaki’s portrayal of “Shirodkar” literally took the audience back to their school days and made them remember their own adolescent first-love! Ketaki won millions of hearts purely through her young charm, simplicity and innocent expressions.

Phuntroo – This technologically advanced film set a benchmark of special effects in Marathi. Directed by award winning director Sujay Dahake, the film was produced by EROS International and was the first Science Fiction made in Marathi. Ketaki played the lead double role.

Time Pass – Ketaki’s portrayed of the lead - “Prajakta” - in this romcom directed by Raji Jadhav and was loved and adored by one and all. The film went on to become the biggest box office grosser ever in the history of the Marathi Film Industry. “Mala Wed Lagale Premache” sang by Ketaki herself became an anthem of sorts for the young hearts in Maharashtra.

Time Pass 2 – This sequel to hugely successful TimePass was another block buster directed by Ravi Jadhav. A short and sweet cameo by Ketaki won a special place in the hearts of audience.

Kaksparsh – Ketaki played Uma in this blockbuster directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. Her role of the newly wedded young girl from Konkan set in the 1930s decade also won critical fame.

Taani – A gripping story of a daughter of a cycle rickshaw hawker, staying in shanties of Nagpur, whose determination finally saw her wear the hat of an IAS officer, Taani was inspired by a true story. Ketaki’s played the title role and her role obviously struck a chord with the audience.

Aarohi – The story of a celebrity winner of musical reality show – Bhargavi - was a true representation of today’s world running behind instant fame and media glare. In this film, Ketaki has been portrayed as a young and upcoming singing talent.

Ketaki has done anchoring for the show “Sa Sa Sare Gare” for ETV Marathi Musical Journey

Composer

Ketaki’s first composition as a music director is ready for release. The Abhang is sung by Sureshji Wadkar released in July 2016
